About the Project
A Land for All is a shared movement of Israelis and Palestinians who believe that the path to peace, security, and stability passes through two independent states, Israel and Palestine, within a joint framework allowing both peoples to live together and apart.
I was hired to design their 2023 annual report. The report had two versions, one in English and another in Arabic and Hebrew.
When I began the project, the client had no images available, and even after helping them determine image requirements, the provided photos lacked visual consistency and varied widely in quality, from professional photos to phone snaps. I took lead on image selection and processing to make them look more consistent and enhance their quality as much as possible, and supplemented them with stock photography..
The Arabic-Hebrew version also presented some challenges. This version contained twice as much text as the English version, but needed to fit the same number of pages. It was also essential that both languages receive equal visual prominence, with neither appearing “above” the other or having greater weight. This principle also applied to color usage, with green representing Palestine and blue representing Israel. My design successfully fit all the text without hurting the elegance of the layouts or the legibility of the copy, while also balancing both “sides,” avoiding visual clutter, and providing enough page-to-page variation to keep readers engaged.
